Friends at their front doors

We are truly so blessed by the greatest neighbors, the Mejias. They are the sweetest, most loving, and caring friends. I feel so blessed because we can always count on each other from little things, like eggs or milk to finish a recipe, to big things, like babysitting each others little ones. The greatest part is they have the cutest little girl named Kapri that Laylie just adores. These girls were friends since birth and love playing together. The last few weeks have been so fun to watch these little girls grow their friendship and really realizing that it is a blast to hang out with each other. If Laylie hears a little peep from the Mejias home she looks towards our front door and says "Kapri!" Every time we leave our house, Laylie is hoping to stop by their house to say hello to Kapri or even ask her to come out and play. The best part of it all is that they spend a few minutes each day yelling through our front screen doors to each other. They tell each other about what they see, repeating each other, playing copy-cat and laughing with each other. It is so cute and so fun to watch. I get such a joy that Laylie has such a sweet friend that is only steps away. Soon enough they will be playing for hours and spending the night at each others houses. Thank you James, Calista and Kapri for being the greatest neighbors, and for being a dream come true for Laylie, to have a close friend that lives across the way.

Happy 4th of July

We made this 4th of July a totally packed, non-stop, completely thrilling and super fun weekend!
It all started Sunday morning heading off to the Elfin Forest Parade to watch my brother Tim be in the parade with his fire station. We had a wonderful time sprawled out on a picnic blanket under shady trees as we watched everything go by, like horses, cars with city counsel people in them, people riding bikes and big huge fire trucks. The best part was watching Laylie - she had a huge smile on her face the whole time with her little arm waving high up in the sky to everything that went by. She even got sprayed by the fire truck and ate some candy that was thrown to her. After the parade we were able to go to the fire station potluck and Tim was able to show us the whole station. Thank you, Tim, we had a wonderful time! We are so extremely proud of you and can’t wait to see what God has in store for you in these next few years.

After the parade we headed straight for Chris and Lila’s for a BBQ and pool party. We had a wonderful time eating yummy food – thank you Chris for smoking the most delicious chicken and ribs. We played in the pool, enjoyed a few rounds of games, had a dance party in the middle of their living room and hung out with family. It was a perfect ending to a super jolly day.

Then came the actual 4th of July day!! In the morning we relaxed together as a family and tried to rest up for the next fun event which was a BBQ and some fireworks with Jason’s family. We headed over to the White’s around 2pm where we all hung out together. Laylie got to play with her cousins, we did some mini-fireworks in the backyard, and ate a yummy chicken dinner. 7pm rolled around and we were all so sleepy and tired from the weekend’s events. We knew we could not make it to the fireworks at the Del Mar Fair at 9pm so we headed home, tucked Laylie into bed, and we all drifted off to sleep with happy hearts, full tummies, and were really happy to be living in the USA.
