A Mom Moment...

We pulled into the parking lot of CVS and found a perfect open space for my big white car. I looked back in the rear view mirror to see Holton happily eating his cheese sandwich from Chick-fil-a. (I had promised him a quick stop there after Nyla's doctor appointment.) I got out of the car, pulled out the double stroller, loaded up the kids and made our way into the store. I found myself hoping for a very quick stop at this store, as I hadn't been out a whole lot with the kids since I had Nyla. We walked through all the aisles and ended up at the back of the store to pick up a prescription for our newest baby girl for thrush. The nice pharmacist said that Nyla wasn't on our insurance yet, and also that it wouldn't be ready for another thirty minutes. So I told them, "my husband will be back." I know as a mother of small children that waiting in a store with so many wonderful things to see and touch will get crazy. As we walked back to the car, I thought of things we needed...gripe water, bobby bins for a new hairstyle I have been wanting to try, and soon I am off grabbing things quickly - but so is my little man. I looked over and Holton is now out of the stroller with 4 hair brushes, a handful of hair ties, and a package of clips. He is trying to keep up with me all the while grabbing anything he can find. I took the things from his hands and said, "we don't need brushes today!" and quickly tucked them back in the nearest aisle. I knew they didn't even belong there, but we headed to the check out counter anyway...where a man offered to help me to my car and said "it looks like you have your hands full." I smile and say, "oh, thank you, but I got it!" My brain wondered, "do I look like I have my hands full, or like I am trying to herd all my little ducklings?" We finally made it back to the car with no medicine for Nyla but a few things I had been intending to get from the store. I changed two diapers and loaded up the kids. As I buckled Holton into his car seat, I ask him, "Oh no! Where is your cheese sandwich?" I remembered that he had it in the stroller, and then he started touching everything...I thought to myself, "Should I get all of the kids out of the car once again and go up and down each aisle to hunt for a cheese sandwich so no one is freaked out when they find it?" Nah, that is way too much work - and now that I am a mom of four, sometimes things just have to fly. Sorry CVS for losing a half eaten cheese sandwich somewhere in your store - but I made it home just in time for a nap, and that's what truly mattered!

When She Came...

It was a sunny evening on Friday, April 28th, when we met our little angel Nyla Jillian. At 6pm labor started, by 7:20pm we made it to the hospital, and at 7:38pm she was in my arms - the arms that longed so badly to be holding my sweet baby.

The moment I held her warm little body against my chest, hearing her first gasps of air, her tiny cry, and Jason shouting, "It's a girl!" was the most amazing feeling.

I hope to never forget that memory and the way I felt that night. We can't wait to watch her grow, as we strive to be the greatest parents, and watch her become a sister to her siblings and witness her life as she becomes the lady God has intended her to be.

Thank you, Lord, for giving us another sweet gift that we will forever be thankful for and always in love with.

The First 3 Weeks...

Nyla's First Weeks at Home
Lots of snuggles, kisses and cuddles...

Mothers Day

This year this Mama woke up feeling extremely blessed on this Mother's Day! My heart couldn't be more happier and I am living my dream.

The weekend started off with a Mother's Day Tea with Rael at preschool, Breakfast in bed, gifts, a train ride down to San Diego watching the ocean pass by, a walk downtown, and a visit to the New Children's Museum. A perfect day with my four babies and my wonderful husband.
